As has happened SO many times in history, PC gaming has always been called a dying platform. And each and every time, some hotshot developer comes out of left field and develops a game that blows all previous conceptions about the matter out of the water. Then for a few years, PC is king again. Rinse and repeat.
(For those that are lazy mudflaps that don't want to read or know the thoughts of one of their members, feel free to scroll down to the bottom for a link leading to the IW forums. The reason for this post is that we are not alone in our problem, and it's time to take a stand. PC Gamers Unite! Huzzah!)
Call of Duty...
This has been a game close to my heart for quite some time. the series itself was born out of disgruntled employees working on the Medal of Honor series way back in the day, thinking that they could do BETTER. And they did. It all started on PC, as PC was the platform of choice at the time to make a groundbreaking game. Consoles were always known as the poor mans gaming system, and have always been known as such. In comparison, the complexity and realism that could be coded into a PC game, would trounce every effort the console developers would make to compete.
Call of Duty was a game for the players, and by the players and squeezed in every effort to make a stable and enjoyable experience for all PC users. They never took the intelligence and capabilities of PC users for granted, which was the key to a strong and committed fan-base.
So now we have 'Next-Gen' consoles out there, and the common 'Joe on the street' is blown away. These are the folks who think PCs are for Solitaire and Minesweeper. These folks are the majority. In the effort to make PCs more user friendly, the core base of PC users has been dumb-ed down to the point that they neither know, nor care how they should be treated as purchasing customers. Big publishing firms have followed suit, taking advantage of the situation and pushing shovelware upon it's dedicated and loyal fan-base. It's now to the point that a developer will port MOST games from the console to the PC, as opposed to the other way around as it used to be. And we take it, and gobble it up with a nostalgia embedded in us, thinking; 'We know better than the sheeple...' who gobble up this childish fluff.
Here's the crux. We don't matter anymore. Our elitism has clouded our minds. We must remember, when it comes to nostalgia, that PC's can DO BETTER! WAY better. And PC users can do better too. WAY better. I say this with regards to MW2.

"Every single CoD game (made for PC) in the series had a set of standards, i.e. Dedicated server. As consumers, you were not made aware in a reasonable fashion of the changes to CoD:MW2. Neither the Developer or Publisher of the game took reasonable steps to ensure you were aware of the changes made from...PRECEDENCE."

I'd like to include a link to the Infinity Ward forums at the end of this post. It seems that we're not alone in our frustration that we've all been experiencing with IWNet and MW2 in general. The game is wonderful, but Activision's lack of effort in making this game work, is appalling. It seems they have outright abandoned the PC users, and the problems with hackers and broken matchmaking has become endemic.
I say it's about time us poor little PC users finally act up a bit. We don't need to be Trolls, but we must be heard. I personally will never pay $60+ for anything from Activision unless these issues, at the very least, are addressed and a solid effort is put in to acknowledging the PC user base. We won't take shoddy knock offs from the console market anymore!
Cheers Ladies and Gents!
Thanks again for your time....again...lol
